Columbus Police say an officer was fired at while responding to a shooting on the northeast side early Friday morning.
Police say the officer was in uniform while working private security at the Pinecrest Village apartments when a shooting happened nearby around 1 a.m. While he was investigating, someone reportedly fired at the officer.
Police say the officer returned fire and suffered a "superficial injury," but police did not immediately provide details.
No arrests were immediately reported.
The person shot during the initial shooting was hit in the arm and expected to survive.
