Kasich To Appear At Transportation Event In Cleveland

Ohio Gov. John Kasich is headed to a transportation-related event in Cleveland after mostly staying out of the spotlight since his failed run for president.

It's the city where Kasich's role in the upcoming Republican National Convention has been limited because he's not voiced support for presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump.

A spokesman said last week that Kasich neither sought nor expects a speaking slot at the party's signature event. It's increasingly unlikely he'll even attend unless something changes.

Kasich has declined to endorse Trump, whose statements on race, religion and immigration defy the unifying message of Kasich's 2016 campaign. Trump has said he won't invite speakers who don't endorse him.

Kasich's state office says Wednesday's event in the Cleveland suburb of Valley View will feature a "major transportation announcement."
