Facebook

The owner of a popular bar in Nelsonville is dead after being shot during an apparent fight with a customer.

Nelsonville police say they were called about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday to the Mine Tavern on a report of a man shot. Police say the man was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries.

Several people at the scene identified the man killed as bar owner Timothy Koker.

Investigators say the man who was shot had a confrontation with another man prior to the shooting and that man reportedly fled the scene on foot.

Police say a suspect was later taken into custody after a standoff of more than two hours at his Nelsonville home.

Police said no shots were fired in the standoff.
