Columbus Man Pleads Guilty In Fatal Robbery At Columbus Home

Franklin County Jail

An Ohio man has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter for his role in a 2012 robbery that led to the shooting death of a 26-year-old man.

Mickey Velazquez entered the plea on Wednesday in Columbus. He is one of four men accused in the death of Brandon Leonard.

Prosecutors said Velazquez and two of the men confronted Leonard's girlfriend outside a house and forced her inside at gunpoint in May 2012. Authorities haven't said who fired the fatal shots.

Two of the men involved have pleaded guilty in the case and were sentenced to prison; another man is awaiting trial.

Defense attorneys and prosecutors are recommending a 22-year prison term for Velazquez when he's sentenced on Dec. 10.
