Indictment In Slaying In Chillicothe, An Ohio City Troubled By Disappearances

A grand jury has indicted a suspect in the shooting death of a woman whose slaying is one of several deaths and disappearances troubling a southern Ohio city.

The Ross County Sheriff's Office says Jason McCrary is charged with murder in the death of Timberly Claytor earlier this year.

The indictment announced Friday in Chillicothe also alleges the 37-year-old McCrary is a repeat violent offender under Ohio law because of a previous conviction of aggravated robbery.

The body of the 38-year-old Claytor was found in nearby Massieville on May 29.

Three other women have been found dead in the area since last year and two remain missing. Police say all were drug addicts and several had prostituted themselves.
