Progressive Field has been operating at 40 percent capacity since the 2021 home opener on April 5.

Progressive Field, home of the Cleveland Indians baseball team, will be open to full capacity June 2 and masks will be optional for all fans, the team announced Tuesday.

The ballpark will return to pre-pandemic operations the same day Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine plans to lift the statewide mask mandate and most coronavirus related health orders.

“Fans currently holding tickets to the June 1, 2021 game will be contacted via email within the next two weeks with fan-friendly ticket options and priority access,” the team said in a press release. June 2, a Tuesday, is the last of six home games for the team before they hit the road for five games, facing the St. Louis Cardinals and Baltimore Orioles.

Tickets for remaining 2021 home games will go on sale at 10 a.m. on May 26, according to the team announcement. Season ticket holders and those who have already purchased other ticket packages will get early access to additional tickets.

A “summer celebration” – featuring deals on hot dogs, a kids day, discounted pre-game beers, post-game fireworks and other promotional events, including bobblehead giveaways – will kick off June 11 as the Indians begin a seven-game homestand, starting by taking on the Seattle Mariners.

The Kids Clubhouse and Family Deck will reopen as of June 11 but the popular “kids run the bases” event will not yet return, according to the press release.

All tickets will be issued for mobile entry. The ballpark will continue to enforce the bag policy already in place, which allows fans to carry only small purses, medical bags and diaper bags.

Progressive Field has been operating at 40 percent capacity since welcoming fans back to the ballpark earlier this year under masking and social distancing requirements. The team has eight more home games to play in May under the restrictions, including a May 31 doubleheader against the White Sox.
