Several Dollar General stores in Franklin County continue to overcharge customers, according to the county auditor.
The auditor's office said the following list of Franklin County stores are still overcharging, despite a recent lawsuit filed by Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost:
- 5001 Chatterton Rd., Truro Township
- 4868 W. Broad St., Prairie Township
- 618 Schrock Rd., Westerville
- 3065 Broadway, Grove City
- 3170 Lambert Rd., Pleasant Township
An investigation conducted by the auditor found the five stores failed a second inspection. Prices charged to customers at cash registers were higher than the prices listed on shelves.
According to the recent lawsuit, some Dollar General stores had overcharged rates of 80%, or about 40 times the maximum allowed under state law.
Per the auditor's office, some examples of incorrect scanner prices following the second inspections include:
- Goldfish snacks that should cost $3.75 were scanned at $4.50
- Dove hair conditioner that should cost $7 were scanned at $8
- Officehub Liquid Highlighters that should cost $6 were scanned at $8
- DG Health Electrolyte Solutions that should cost $3.75 were scanned at $4.50
Franklin County Auditor Michael Stinziano said, "Consumers should remain cautious when shopping and make sure you’re paying the correct price; every penny counts. Auditor’s office inspectors will be vigilant and out in the community checking scanners and continuing our work protecting consumers from predatory corporations like Dollar General."
There have been instances of incorrect scanned prices at several other Dollar General stores across the country.
The Ohio Department of Agriculture has been alerted about the failed inspections.

Dollar General has not replied to WOSU's requests for comment.
