Montgomery County votersapproveda levy to continue funding Sinclair Community College.
Issue 4 is a 3.2 mill, ten year levy to support Sinclair Community College operating and capital expenses. The measure does not raise taxes.
A small but vocal group of opponents this fall had criticized Issue 4. They said it was unfair to Montgomery County residents because nearby counties with satellite Sinclair campuses are not equally taxed. College officials disputed this characterization of Issue 4.
State law requires any funding generated through the levy to be used only on campus operations within Montgomery County.
Voters also approved Issue 3, a 6mill, eight year renewal levy that funds programs to support children, people with disabilities, the elderly and people suffering from addiction, among others.
The Montgomery County Human Services levy will generate about $55 million for the county each year. That money is divided among several human services agencies, including Public Health Dayton and Montgomery County and the Area Agency on Aging.
Homeowners with property worth $100,000 will continue paying about $185 a year.
