For the first time, Greene County Parks and Trails is hosting aspecial pumpkin-lighting event calledPumpkin Glow. On Oct. 27 and 28, hundreds of carved pumpkins will be lit and put on display to visitors at the park'sRuss Nature Reserve.
To find out more about Pumpkin Glow, we spent time at the Narrows Reserve off Indian Ripple Road in Beavercreek.
We also spoke with Greene County Parks and Trails Naturalist MelGrosvenor, whotells us about an upcoming event at the Indian Mound Reserve in Cedarville on Nov. 4, 2017, where visitors will hike and play the part of fugitive slaves on their journey along the Underground Railroad.Grosvenor will portray “Sadie,” a guide who explains the role lanterns played in the history of the Underground Railroad.
Greene County Parks & Trailsoversees 2,600 acres of parks and nature reserves in Southwestern Ohio. The lands offer visitors plenty of outdoor opportunities for hiking, fishing, canoeing, and other activities. The park system also offers a number of educational programs for all ages.
