A recent AAA poll revealed that drivers in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky believe that drugged driving is a bigger threat to their safety than drinking and driving.
Seventy-four percent of drivers polled think people who drive after doping are a serious threat. Seventy-one percent say the same thing about driving drunk.
“This is especially significant when you consider the number of years it took to get the public to fully understand the dangers posed by drinking and driving," saidVice President of Public Affairs for AAA Jim Hanni."Which is still, represents about a third of all of our traffic fatalities in the country”
Hannisays states that have legalized marijuana have seen an increase in the number of drugged-driving related accidents.Last week, Ohio Governor Kasich signed a bill to legalize medical marijuana.
AAA will host a drugged driving summit on Tuesday in Blue Ash, Ohio, to discuss possible solutions with law enforcement and other educators.
