For some analysis on how those conventions may play out, we spoke with Howard Wilkinson, a political news reporter with the Cincinnati Enquirer for more than 30 years. Wilkinson is now with WVXU Public Radio in Cincinnati.

The Republican National Convention begins July 18th in Cleveland.  Democrats will take the stage in Philadelphia July 25th.
