Dark Waters, the film shot in Cincinnati a year ago, was snubbed by the 92nd annual Academy Awards, as it was for the Golden Globes.
Todd Phillips' Jokerled all films with 11 nominations, with nods for best picture, lead actor (Joaquin Phoenix), director (Phillips), adapted screenplay, cinematography, film editing, sound editing, sound mixing, original score, costume design and makeup.
The nine best picture nominees are: Ford V. Ferrari, The Irishman, Jojo Rabbit, Joker, Little Women, Marriage Story, 1917, Once Upon A Time In Hollywoodand Parasite.

In Dark Waters, Mark Ruffalo starred as Robert Bilott, the Taft, Stettinius and Hollister partner who worked nearly two decades to win a class-action lawsuit again DuPont for pollution near Parkersburg, W. Va. Dark Waters was based on a 2016 New York Times profile of Bilott.
Dark Watersalso starred Oscar-winners Anne Hathaway and Tim Robbins; plus Bill Camp, Mare Winningham, Victor Garber, Bill Pullman and William Jackson Harper. It was directed by Todd Haynes, who shot Carol here in 2014 with Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara.
Carol was nominated for six Academy Awards, but did not win any Oscars. The nominations were for actresses Blanchett and Mara; adapted screenplay; cinematography; costume design; and original movie score.
