The "Piano Man" himself is next summer's headliner at Great American Ball Park. Billy Joel will make his first solo stadium performance in Cincinnati on Sept. 11, 2020."He doesn't play too many concerts these days and he plays even fewer stadiums," says Michael Belkin, senior vice president of booking for Live Nation. "This being his only performance in Ohio, this is a real coup for Cincinnati and a real coup for this particular building."
Belkin says Live Nation has been working on setting this up for three years.
Reds Hall of Famer Johnny Bench made the announcement, calling Joel an icon.
"He's been in the Hall of Fame, he's one of those guys who has endured over time."
Pre-sale tickets begin for American Express card members on Nov. 11 at 10 a.m. Regular ticket sales begin Nov. 15 at 10 a.m.
The team expects the demand for tickets will cause congestion when purchasing online. Preliminary seating capacity is estimated at 40,000 to 45,000.
