WCPO 9 On Your Side hosts special broadcast, 'Hope After Hate'

Remembering past lessons today and tomorrow

WCPO 9 On Your Side will air a special broadcast called "Hope After Hate" featuring former I-Team reporter Hagit Limor.

Inspired by her father’s story of horror and survival during the Holocaust, Limor traveled across the world to retrace his journey. Her mission was to remind people of a dark chapter in history and empower current and future generations with a profound message that still resonates today.

"I've worked with Hagit through the years and was familiar with her father's story," said Jeff Brogan, vice president and general manager of WCPO 9 On Your Side. "When I learned she had retraced his steps through his Holocaust experience, I was glad WCPO could support the project. Hagit telling this deeply personal story so that others can better understand hate and bigotry is both compelling and courageous."

"It is truly special to return to WCPO to tell this story," said Limor. "I know my excellent partners on this project share the vision behind it: to use the lessons of history to fight bigotry today."

During the show, viewers will learn about Moniek's Legacy, a project in the works through support from the Nancy and David Wolf Holocaust and Humanity Center and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music's Harmony Fund.

In October, Limor and 15 students will travel to Poland and Germany to retrace her father's journey. This will lead to the creation of an immersive multimedia project that takes viewers through the story and inspires action against future acts of hatred.

"Hope After Hate" airs Monday, June 17, at 7:30 p.m. on 9 On Your Side. It will also be streamed live at wcpo.com.
