First responders will hone their skills on the streetcar this week. Full-scale security exercises start Tuesday morning at the Maintenance and Operation Facility (MOF) in Over-the-Rhine.
Metro spokeswoman Heather Norris-Garcia says the drill is done every year. "It's only once a year. It's not something we do every month or something. People change. People's roles change. It's good to make sure everyone knows what to do in case of an emergency and to get a refresher once a year."
The exercises are done a little differently this year. Instead of just on the street in the middle of the night, the drills will be at the MOF.
"We're making sure we're prepared for any scenario," she says.
Norris-Garcia says the exercises are advertised so people passing by don't panic. The first is Tuesday morning from 9 to 11 a.m., with more June 17 and 18.
