Cincinnati Public Radio Announces Host Change For Cincinnati Edition

Cincinnati Public Radio says farewell to Cincinnati Edition host, Mark Heyne, who has resigned from 91.7 WVXU to pursue new opportunities.

Heyne, a member of the WVXU staff when Cincinnati Public Radio purchased the station from Xavier University in 2005, joined CPR to continue with 91.7 as a news reporter and Morning Edition (and later All Things Considered) local program host. He became the fulltime host of Cincinnati Edition in September 2014 after serving as one of the program’s part time hosts since its inception in 2013.

Throughout his career Heyne has received awards from the Ohio Associated Press, Ohio Society of Professional Journalists, The Press Club of Ohio, and the Cincinnati Society of Professional Journalists. He was also the recipient of the 2017 Anthony Lewis Media Award presented by the Commonwealth of Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy.

Cincinnati Editionprovides a daily forum to discuss news, issues and events important to the Greater Cincinnati community, inviting listeners to join the conversation with leaders, news makers and voices from across the region. It is heard weekdays at 1:00 pm on 91.7 WVXU, www.wvxu.org or the WVXU app. Encore programs are broadcast on Saturday and Sunday mornings at 7:00.

A national search for a new Cincinnati Edition host will begin immediately. During the search, local broadcast journalist and historian Daniel Hurley will host the program. Hurley, former Director of the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber’s Leadership Cincinnati program and retired reporter and host of Newsmakers for Local 12, has most recently served as the Interim President of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.
