CBS celebrated the sixth anniversary of "CBS This Morning" Tuesday by announcing that "Face the Nation" host John Dickerson will join Nora O'Donnell and Gayle King on the morning show Wednesday, Jan. 10.
He replaces Charlie Rose, who was fired in November for sexual misconduct. The news came a week after NBC promoted Hoda Kotb to co-anchor the "Today" show, replacing Matt Lauer, who also was fired in November for inappropriate sexual behavior.
Dickerson -- a reporter in his hometown of Washington, D.C., since 1995 -- worked for Time magazine and Slate magazine before joining CBS News in 2009 as an analyst and contributor. He was named "Face the Nation" moderator in June 2015. Dickerson earned a bachelor's degree in English with a specialty in American Studies from the University of Virginia. He's the son of Nancy Dickerson, CBS News' first female correspondent.
Kotb anchors the 7-9 a.m. hours of "Today" with Savannah Guthrie, weather anchor Al Roker and "Orange Room" host Carson Daly. She continues to co-host 10-11 a.m. with Gifford, as she has for 10 years.
Kotb had reported stories for NBC's "Dateline" since 1998. She began her broadcast career with CBS News as a news assistant in Cairo, Egypt, in 1986. She has reported and anchored local news for stations in New Orleans, Fort Myers, Moline, Ill., and Greenville, Miss. Kotb graduated from Virginia Tech University with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism.
