2017 Election Recount Nearly Complete

WVXU

The Hamilton County Board of Elections recount of five close races finished last Friday. Two more races have yet to be counted.

Deputy Director Sally Krisel says the final seats on Cincinnati Council and the Cincinnati Public School board should be known by Wednesday.

"We weren't sure how long it was going to take us to do the city of Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Public School board hand counts (of ballots)," she says. "Those were completed as of yesterday. Then we also had to scan all the ballots that were cast in the precincts for those elections. That took us into today."

She says she doesn't expect any changes in those two races. Republican Jeff Pastor had a 223 vote lead over Democrat Michelle Dillingham in the official count for Cincinnati Council. Incumbent Melanie Bates led challenger Renee Hevia in the race for the final seat on the Cincinnati Board of Education.

The elections board meets at 2 p.m. Wednesday to certify the final results.
