NKU Hires Former WKRC-TV Anchor

Anna Townsend Wright
Northern Kentucky University
Anna Townsend Wright

You knew her as Anna Townsend when she anchored WKRC-TV's "Good Morning Cincinnati" 2005-2009 with John Lomax and Steve Horstmeyer.  She replaced Cammy Dierking in November 2005, when Channel 12 moved Dierking to afternoons after 13 years.

Now known by her married name, Anna Townsend Wright is the new public relations director for Northern Kentucky University. She previously was media relations manager for the Dinsmore & Shohl law firm.

Wright was let out of her Channel 12 contract in a 2009 budget cut, and went to work for Ethicon Endo Surgery as an event and project manager. At NKU, she reports to Gina Hurst Rittinger, the new NKU assistant vice president for marketing and communications.

Wright worked 10 years in TV news as a news anchor and reporter for stations in Missouri and Nebraska and Channel 12. But don't expect to see her behind the anchor desk again.

"I have been spoiled with normal working hours and holidays off," she told me three years ago. "I will be home Christmas morning... instead of at work. I would not trade that for anything."
