The Hotel Covington, opening this summer, is an example of continued economic development in the city.

From market-rate apartment units to career and life learning centers to a new boutique hotel, there's a lot of development in the works for Covington's urban core. The Hotel Covington is the latest example of economic progress taking place in the city.

Here to look at the growth that Covington is experiencing are City of Covington Economic Development Manager Geoff Milz; and Guy Van Rooyen, president and CEO of the Salyers Group, the developer for Hotel Covington. The hotel opens this summer in a building that once was home to Coppin's Department Store, and, later, to Covington City Hall. At seven stories, the building is known as Covington's first skyscraper.
