Cincinnati will double for the Los Angeles suburb of Compton in a Lifetime TV movie about R&B artist Michel'le.
Rhyon Nicole Brown will star as the singer who dated Dr. Dre’s for more than 10 years before marrying Death Row Records founder Suge Knight, according to Deadline.com.
Michel'le, 45, currently stars on the TV One reality series "R&B Divas: Los Angeles."
"The film will capture her journey from the streets of Compton, including her experience with Death Row Records and her relationships with founders Dr. Dre and Suge Knight, described as 'one of fame, abuse and ultimately, survival and triumph,' " said the announcement Tuesday by Kristen Schlotman, Greater Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky Film Commission executive director.
Director Janice Cook will begin filming in late June, Schlotman said. Production offices opened last week in Cincinnati.
Born Michel'le Toussaint, she "was there for N.W.A’s wild ride, with all of its dramatic ups and down. Finally, after years of silence, she is ready to reveal her side of the story," Deadline reported earlier this month.
R. Marcos Taylor, who played music executive Suge Knight in "Straight Outta Compton," will reprise his role in "Girl From The Hood," and Curtis Hamilton will portray Dr. Dre, according to Deadline.
Brown, 23, has appeared in ABC Family's "Lincoln Heights" TV drama (2007-10), "That's So Raven," "Juding Amy," "7th Heaven," "Numb3rs," "ER," "Everybody Loves Raymond" and "Santa and Pete."

Sony and Thinkfactory are producing the film for Lifetime. Thinkfactory credits include "Texas Rising" (History Channel); "Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars" (WE tv); "Queens Of Drama on Pop," "Hollywood Divas" (TV One); and "Vet School" (Nat Geo Wild), Deadline said.
