Loving Day, coming up on June 12, commemorates the anniversary of the 1967 United States Supreme Court ruling that legalized interracial marriage in the United States. While interracial couples nowadays are much more accepted, they may still face some challenges and discrimination. This is even present in the media and public opinion, such as when Old Navy recently faced backlash for releasing an advertisementfeaturing an interracial couple.
Here to discuss the history of interracial marriage laws along with the current realities faced by these couples are Associate Professor of the Department of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies at the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Carolette Norwood; Journalist and Founder of WriteUP!
