The Mercantile Library might not quickly come to mind if you are thinking about new recipes to try out for your next family gathering, but it has a sizeable collection of cookbooks - more than 100, from as far back as 1878.

Mercantile Library Collector Cedric Rose searched through the library's selection of cookbooks for an article he wrote for the March issue of Cincinnati Magazine. He and Cincinnati Magazine Dining Editor Joanne Drilling recently talked with us about what we can learn from the books, and the recipes, dating back almost 150 years.

You can read Cedric Rose's article, An Edible Archive, in the March issue of Cincinnati Magazine, or click here
