WOSU and the League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Columbus Host Voter Registration Drive March 21–26

COLUMBUS, OHIO, MARCH 15, 2022 – The League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Columbus (LWVMC) and WOSU Public Media are excited to announce a dedicated week of voter registration and outreach Monday, March 21 through Saturday, March 26 in anticipation 2022 Ohio elections.

Dozens of trained volunteers will staff multiple Voter Outreach locations throughout Franklin County the week of March 21, including the WOSU headquarters, The Ohio State University Campus (staffed by OSU Votes), Columbus State Community College, Capital University, local food pantries, local Columbus Metropolitan Library branches and various local community organizations. A complete list of participating voter registration locations, times and dates can be found at lwvcols.org.

The focus of registration efforts will be all eligible voters, with a special emphasis on new voters, college students and underserved communities.

“According to U.S. Census data from 2020, as many as 1 in 4 eligible Americans are not registered to vote. Every year, millions of Americans find themselves unable to vote because they’ve missed a registration deadline, didn’t update their registration, or aren’t sure how to register,” said Elizabeth Grieser, operations manager for LWVMC. “We are organizing this week of voter outreach to encourage more participating in the Ohio Primary Election.”

“Getting out to vote is an excellent opportunity for our community members to voice their opinions about significant topics like healthcare, education, the economy, immigration and taxes,” said Amy Tillinghast, senior director of marketing and communications for WOSU Public Media. “WOSU is a daily source for reliable news and information, and we are pleased to collaborate with LWVMC to support this important work.”

Thank you to our partners: Columbus Metropolitan Libraries, OSU Votes, Capital University, Columbus State Community College, NSI Food Pantry, The Church for All People, La Mega Radio Columbus, and the Columbus Metropolitan Club.
