It was on this date in 1697 that Isaac Newton was given a mathematical problem to solve by Swiss mathematician, Johann Bernoulli. The problem was to "find a curve connecting two points at different heights and not on the same vertical line, along which a body acted upon only by gravity will fall in the shortest time." Newton solved it in about twelve hours.
And on this date in 1930, the Terminal Tower opened in Downtown Cleveland. The 52-story building was the 2nd tallest building in the world at the time.
