A jury is now deliberating in the murder trial of Blendon Township Police Officer Connor Grubb, who fatally shot 21-year-old Ta'Kiya Young in 2023.

Blendon Township Police Officer Connor Grubb's defense team called former Akron Police Officer and use of force expert Kevin Davis to testify. Special prosecutors called their own use of force expert, Seth Stoughton, a University of South Carolina policing and public safety professor to testify at the trial.

Judge David Young, who is not related to Ta'Kiya Young, decided to dismiss four charges related to the death of Young's unborn child. Connor Grubb is still charged in Ta'Kiya Young's death.

Defense lawyers for Blendon Township Police Officer Connor Grubb and special prosecutors gave their opening statements Wednesday. Grubb is charged with murder after he shot and killed a pregnant woman in August 2023.

By noon, the special prosecutors from Montgomery County and defense lawyers for Blendon Township Police officer Connor Grubb got through over a dozen potential jurors. They have to sort through about 90 in the jury pool before opening arguments begin.

The trial for Connor Grubb is set to begin on July 14, 2025.

Prosecutors want to drop the charge for "purposeful" murder. The charge that would remain is for causing Casey Goodson Jr.'s death during a felonious assault.

Jason Meade's last trial ended in a hung jury. He was charged with murder in the Dec. 2020 shooting death of Casey Goodson Jr.
