Columbus voters have a choice to make in November on two proposed charter amendments that could change how city council members are elected.

Issue 8 would change council's district system to where only voters in a district vote for council members. Issue 9 would redraw the map and add four new at-large seats.

Councilmember Tiara Ross won November's election citywide, while her opponent Jesse Vogel won the most votes in council district 7. That's what both proposals seek to change.

Vogel won more than 60% of the vote in District 7 and along the High Street corridor, but Ross took more votes citywide. Vogel is critical of the city's district system.
