Two different bills that would make more campaign finance reports available online are drawing praise from a public watchdog group.

Ohio Common Cause’s Catherine Turcer says there are two bills in the state legislature right now that would make campaign finance for local races more transparent.

“The local information is in paper, it’s in file cabinets so it’s all paper. What we need is access to this information online in a way that we can sort it and reporters can look at information more closely.”

Turcer says this is one major element of both bills that she likes.  One of the bills is being proposed by Ohio House Representative John Becker. The other is sponsored by Republican State Senator Frank LaRose.
