Canal Winchester Local Schools' head varsity football coach has resigned after a district investigation found he had "unprofessional conduct" with a student athlete.
District leaders put Rob Page on administrative leave over the weekend while officials investigated reports of misconduct.
Canal Winchester Local Schools spokeswoman Megan Anthony did not elaborate on the nature of the misconduct, but said in a statement that it was "unacceptable and inconsistent with the standards we expect from staff members trusted with the care and support of our students."
Page began coaching for Canal Winchester Schools in August of last year. At the same time, he began as a school intervention specialist for the district. Anthony said Page also resigned from his classroom position.
A Wednesday message from the district to parents whose students worked with Page said the "unprofessional conduct" took place during Page's coaching responsibilities. It went on to say that students would be assigned new intervention specialists for the rest of the year.
Assistant Football Coach Corey Coe will lead the football team for the rest of the season.
