Ohio State's athletics department recovered from the pandemic in 2022 with a record revenue-generating year.

The department reported more than $251 million in revenue for the fiscal year, which ran from July 2021 through June of 2022, far exceeding the nearly $107 million reported in FY 2021.

Ticket sales, which were one of the hardest sources of revenue during the pandemic, rebounded to nearly $60 million across all sports—including more than $47 million from football alone.

By comparison, the university reported only about $7,000 in ticket sales in the previous reporting period, when fans were not allowed in the stadium.

“Buckeye Nation continues to show their tremendous support for our incredible student-athletes, our coaches and our support staff. We are grateful for the enthusiasm they bring to our stadiums, fields and pools,” said Gene Smith, senior vice president and Wolfe Foundation-endowed athletic director in a statement.

The department also reported nearly $63 million in giving from companies, foundations and individuals—a nearly $20 million improvement from FY 2021.
