You probably don't listen to Classical 101 on an old Degen DE1103, but however you tune in to programming, we appreciate your patronage. Here's a taste of what's to come February 7th-13th on Classical 101; Classical music all day, every day.

Every week is concert week on Classical 101. Tune in to hear everything from Ravel to Bach with witty insight and conversation from hosts in-the-know. Here's a sneak peek of what's on the menu for next week, January 31 through February 6, 2016.

Sunday, February 7th:


1:00 PM, Concerts@Ohio State with Christopher Purdy

Vaughan Williams Symphony No. 5 in D will be performed by the Ohio State University Symphony, conducted by Antoine Clark. This work is decidedly more Romantic and lush than Vaughan Williams' previous symphony, and it even borrows from his opera (the composer referred to it as a "morality" piece) , unfinished at the time, The Pilgrim's Progress

Monday, February 8th:


7:00 PM, Essential Classics: "Music you know you know even if you don’t know you know it."

A Symphony for Fun  by Don Gillis

Thursday, February 11th:


7:00 PM, Symphony@7 with John Rittmeyer

Ravi Shankar's Symphony is his only work for a Western symphony, but the composer is well-known to Indian and Western listeners alike. This work features solo sitar with Western orchestra. 



Friday, February 12th:    


7:00 PM, The San Francisco Symphony 

The SFS presents pieces by Schulhoff, Shostakovich, and Tchaikovsky.


Saturday, February 13th :


1:00 PM, Metropolitan Opera Broadcast
