The history of the Columbus music scene runs far and deep.

Jazz and swing took over Columbus streets in the 1920s, followed by rock, soul and swing, in the 60s, ending the 20thcentury with punk, indie and rock.

Now in 2026, you can find almost every genre and instrument being played in Columbus.

Columbus was the starting point for many successful musicians such as jazz artist Rahsaan Roland Kirk, duo Twenty-One Pilots and country band Rascal Flatts.

Now, it is a place that is nurturing new musicians that are hoping to one day make it big like their fellow Buckeye stars.

Today, we will hear about all sides of the Columbus music industry, from venues to nonprofit organizations that make music possible for many.
