Ohio limits the use of controversial gestational crates for pregnant sows

After a 15-year wait, Ohio is limiting the use of controversial gestational crates for pregnant sows.

The effort took a constitutional amendment in 2009, the threat of a second one by the Humane Society, and the then-governor bringing both sides together to hash out an agreement.

Today, we’re talking about that history, why not all farmers are on board, and why more food companies – from McDonald’s to Costco–are adopting ethical animals.
