New plan will utilize unused church land to develop housing in Columbus

St. Ladislas Church has been vacant since 2023 and will be turned into a drop-in center for homeless youth.

There’s a new movement to counter NIMBY-ism, which is also known as the Not In My Backyard stance, which pushes back on unwanted development.

The new movement that’s gaining steam is called, Yes, in God’s backyard, and it’s inviting development of unused church lands.

Columbus City Council President Shannon Hardin is a convert and it’s part of his overall housing plan for the city.
