Across Ohio, math scores are down, according to the nation’s report card.
COVID took away many students' foundational years, and the results can still be felt.
But, states across the country are putting millions of dollars into programs, such as math coaches and upgrading benefits. Ohio is not one of those states.
With a reported “poor” policy quality from the National Council on Teacher Quality, what can students expect next school year, and will math scores continue to slip?
Do these policies and numbers reflect what is actually happening with students, or are we still just playing catch up since 2020?
And math teachers are suffering from something called "math anxiety," as teaching foundational math skills has made many teachers across the country nervous.
