It was a challenge to have nearly three dozen artists create paintings that reflect the refugee experience.
And in a creative twist, the art literally crosses the border from one painting to another.
This Saturday, all the pieces will be displayed together for the last time. Today on All Sides, you’ll meet the creator of the project and one of the artists.
You’ll also meet Ukeme Awakessien Jeter, the history-making mayor of Upper Arlington, who is originally from Nigeria and hear about her new book, Immigrit.
We’ll travel to Dawes Arboretum in Newark to learn about gigantic bugs that can weigh up to 1,200 pounds and are constructed from materials found in nature.
Guests:
- Laurie VanBalen, director, Columbus Crossing Borders Project
- Michael Guinane, artist, Columbus Crossing Borders Project
- Ukeme Awakessien Jeter, Mayor of Upper Arlington
- David Rogers, creator, Big Bugs traveling garden exhibit
