State lawmakers are working on three bills aimed at limiting the rights of members of the transgender community in Ohio.
One bill would ban gender-affirming care for minors.
Another is touted as a parents' bill of rights, requiring schools to inform parents about their students’ health, well being and instructional materials with sexually explicit content.
Hearings continue Wednesday on a third measure that would limit the participation of transgender girls in high school and college sports.
The Ohio bills are part of a larger national landscape in which Republican state lawmakers have introduced more anti-trans bills in 2023 alone than in the previous five years.
We’ll talk about the trend and how Ohio fits into it.
