Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., talks to reporters after the House voted to adjourn for the evening as the House met for a second day to elect a speaker and convene the 118th Congress in Washington, Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023.

The 118th Congress is off to a rocky start. For the past two days, Republicans who hold a narrow majority have failed to elect a new speaker of the house.

Kevin McCarthy of California wants the job but a small group of far-right members have refused to support him.

Today on All Sides with Ann Fisher, political Journalist Ken Rudin joins us to discuss what comes next.
