Two people walk past a sign for COVID-19 testing at the Cleveland Clinic, Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2020, in Cleveland.

The U.S. hit the grim milestone of 800,000 COVID-19 related deaths, the most of any country. The number of known coronavirus cases in the U.S. surpassed 50 million this week. That’s more than the populations of Ohio, Georgia, Michigan and North Carolina combined.

It’s almost certainly an undercount since not everyone gets tested. The first vaccine appeared a year ago, but the virus continues to spread and infect. The omicron variant is the latest source of worry, and the World Health Organization warns not to label it as mild.

Today on Wellness Wednesday we discuss the latest on COVID and the omicron variant.
