The pandemic has raised the critical question of why the U.S. can’t make so much of the stuff we need and has highlighted how global shifts in manufacturing have made us dependent on imports for everyday items.

Manufacturing in the U.S. hasn’t completely disappeared, but the productivity of the post-World War II is gone. The question is, is there a way back?
