Black women who frequently use lye-based hair straightening products long term may be at an increased risk of developing breast cancer, according to researchers at Boston University.
The recent findings are part of a 25-year-long study looking into why Black women diagnosed with breast cancer are 40% more likely to die from the disease than white women.
