Lawmakers Battle Over Teaching 'Critical Race Theory'

"Critical Race Theory" is a legal term to describe a way of understanding how American racism has shaped public policy, but in recent months it has been recast as a divisive term for how the history of American racism has played out, pitting people of color against white oppressors.

Now, Republican-controlled legislatures in states that include Ohio are looking to gag teachers in the classroom when it comes to those lessons.
