Spotify Founder and CEO Dan Elk announced a bold goal in 2018, to give one million artists an opportunity to live off their work.

Three years in, and musicians say the company with 345 million users and 155 million subscribers has fallen far short of its pledge. On March 15, groups of musicians protested outside Spotify offices around the world.
