The Trump Administration is working on a policy change that would require scientists to disclose all of their raw data, including confidential medical records, before their findings could be considered in shaping regulations.
Officials with the Environmental Protection Agency say the proposal, titled “Strengthening Transparency in Regulatory Science,” would improve the ability of researchers’ conclusions to be independently verified.
However, scientists and physicians say the rule would make it harder to enact new clean air and water rules, putting public health at risk.
