Gov. Mike DeWine has ordered the state Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Health to investigate the safety of Ohio drinking water. The announcement came four months after a study found so-called ‘forever chemicals’ in Ohio drinking water.
DeWine made water a key issue in his campaign for office. And during his State of the State address in March, he promised to address the state’s water infrastructure, pollution and algae issues.
In the two-year state budget enacted in July, lawmakers also set aside $172 million for the H2Ohio fund to bankroll water related capital improvements.
