Beauty Standards In 2019

Black women were crowned the winners in America’s most prestigious beauty pageants this year, taking home Miss Teen USA, Miss America, and Miss USA. 

Two of the three winners sported natural curls for their crowning, a move that has reinforced what many believe are changing ideas about mainstream beauty, whiteness and blackness.
