  • LeBron James announced last week that he’ll take his NBA career out west, joining the L.A. Lakers in the 2018-2019 season, but in northeast Ohio, James’ philanthropic endeavors will continue. The James Family Foundation’s I Promise school will open its doors to 240 third and fourth graders in the Akron Public School District later this month. The school, which will grow each year to eventually house students in grades 1-8, will provide students with wraparound services, specialized STEM curriculum and smaller class sizes because of the foundation’s financial support.
