U.S. Army Corps Of Engineers Sees Cleveland Harbor Dredge As Commodity
With dredged material now viewed as a marketable commodity, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and local agencies are seeking public input on a new 20-year dredging plan for Cleveland Harbor. For nearly 50 years, dredged material has been stored in confined disposal facilities, isolating what was dredged from adjacent waterways.
Destination Cleveland Campaign Encourages Safe Reopening, Staycations
Destination Cleveland is launching a campaign to aid local businesses and encourage safe practices as the economy reopens. The “Undefeated” campaign will offer resources to local businesses, including guidance on safe practices and ways to order supplies such as thermometers and hand sanitizer. Businesses must agree to be part of the initiative and display visuals in storefronts encouraging healthy behavior. The goal is to help people feel safe visiting participating businesses, said Destination Cleveland President and CEO David Gilbert.

Graham, currently the Canton City Schools superintendent, beat out Galion City Schools Superintendent James Grubbs Jr. and Tracy Reed, the chief academic officer of Fort Wayne Community Schools in Indiana, for the position. Graham previously held the position of the Lorain schools superintendent until the state takeover in 2017.
Cleveland Summer Events Canceled, Postponed
Updated: 6:55 p.m., Friday, May 29, 2020. Clevelanders are preparing for a pretty unusual summer – one filled with canceled plans and social distancing. This unusual summer also means a number of Cleveland-favorite events are either canceled or postponed due to coronavirus concerns. Friday morning, the board of the Cuyahoga County Fair announced it was canceling this year's event. Board President Tim Fowler said the fair is complex and one error can ruin a year of planning and preparation.

Cleveland Canceling Summer Events, Enforcing New Business Regulations
The City of Cleveland expected to increasingly enforce restrictions on businesses as the state further reopens following the coronavirus lockdown, Mayor Frank Jackson said in a Friday press conference. Residents can file a complaint with the city if they suspect a business is violating social distancing or other restrictions. The city will reach out to the business by phone, Jackson said, as well as send a letter notifying the business of the complaint. Now, a copy of the complaint will also be sent to the Ohio Department of Health, Jackson said.

Coronavirus cases are on the rise in Ohio and across Northeast Ohio, including in Cleveland. University Hospitals has enough personal protective equipment on hand for now, said UH Innovation Center Managing Director Kipum Lee. The decontamination methods are a “contingency plan” in case of a future shortage.
