America's Independent Music Venues Could Close Soon Due To Coronavirus
A newly released survey of nearly 2,000 music venue owners and promoters say that they anticipate closing within the next few months unless they can secure some governmental assistance.

Cleveland Metroparks Outlines Selective Summer Reopenings
Cleveland Metroparks is opening more facilities for the summer season – includes concessions, marinas and beaches – as restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic continue to loosen. Both Edgewater and Huntington beaches will open for guarded swim hours starting June 6, according to a press release, as will Wallace Lake. The Emerald Necklace, Wildwood, and East 55th Street marinas will open June 8, with the first hour reserved for vulnerable populations.
Cuyahoga County Election Officials Prepare For In-person Voting In November
Cuyahoga County election officials are considering changes in preparation for the November general election, but much is unknown until the secretary of state issues instructions. According to Tony Perlatti, director of the county’s board of elections, they are expecting at this point to hold in-person voting on Election Day in November with six-foot spacing between voting booths.
Cuyahoga County Sees Highest Increase In COVID-19 Cases Since March
Cuyahoga County saw its highest weekly increase in new COVID-19 cases since late March. The county board of health reported 484 new cases this week, up by 159 from last week's count of 325 new cases. Their reporting does not include cases in the city of Cleveland. “This is the biggest weekly increase we’ve had since the pandemic hit our community,” said Medical Director Dr. Heidi Gullett.
Cleveland Officials Address George Floyd's Death Ahead Of Saturday Protests
Cleveland city officials are prepared for Saturday protests against police brutality, said Mayor Frank Jackson at a Friday press conference. “We believe and we know that people have a right to be angry, and a right to be upset based on what we know,” Jackson said. “They also have a right to demonstrate that anger and upsetness through protests and demonstrations.” The city supports those efforts, Jackson said. But officials also plan to protect the “rights of the public,” he said, violence or destruction of property will not be tolerated in Cleveland.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine on Friday expressed “sorrow and disgust” at the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, saying the officer who knelt on Floyd’s neck while he cried out for breath violated “every principle of human decency.”

Cleveland: CPC Director Did Not Violate Harassment, Workplace Policies
An investigator hired by the city of Cleveland didn’t find sufficient evidence that the Community Police Commission’s director broke city policies, according to a report released today. In written complaints and a lawsuit, former employees had accused the director, Jason Goodrick, of sexual harassment and discrimination. Goodrick was placed on paid leave in April pending an investigation. The city's human resources and law departments hired attorney Diane Citrino to examine claims about the workplace environment.
