Nursing Home Workers Say They Don't Have Enough COVID-19 PPE
Ohio set a new record this week, with more than 4,000 new COVID-19 cases for the second day in a row, according to the Ohio Department of Health. Throughout the pandemic, nursing homes have been hotspots for the virus, with a large percentage of the deaths, but workers and their unions have complained they don't have proper protective equipment.

Restaurant Employees Looking Forward To Extra $300 In Unemployment Checks
Ohioans receiving unemployment benefits can expect an additional $300 weekly starting mid-to-late September. The payments will be retroactive, going back to Aug. 1. Ohio Restaurant Association (ORA) President John Baker told ideastream those additional funds are “really a lifeline” for many restaurant employees, whose industry has been particularly hard hit by the pandemic.

Cuyahoga County Judges Continue Bail Reform Talks
Judges in Cuyahoga County held another meeting on Monday to talk about reforming the bail system, their first gathering since a withering U.S. Marshals Service report on the county jail. Local judges and other officials have been talking for years about changing the way bail is set, so that fewer defendants await trial from inside a jail cell.

When Cleveland Heights native Lee Chilcote and his wife bought a townhouse in Cleveland's Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood in 2006, little did they know the housing market was about to collapse just a couple years later. "Right around the time we had our first child, the house that we were living in the value went down by about a third. So it was a real wake up call: 'Do we really want to stay here. Is this something that we want to do?'" Chilcote said.
